Sweden, major European iron ore exporter recorded Aug’18 exports at 1.94 MnT. The exports depicted fall of 13% on monthly basis as against 2.23 MnT in July’18.
On yearly basis, the exports recorded an increase of 28% as against 1.51 MnT in Aug’17.
In CY’18 (Jan-Aug’18), Sweden iron ore exports witnessed 15.57 MnT, up slightly against 15.27 MnT for the same duration last year (Jan-Aug’17).
In Aug’18, an agglomerated (pellets/concentrate) iron ore exports have recorded 9% decrease M-o-M to 1.65 MnT against 1.82 MnT in July’18. However, on yearly basis exports stood up by 32% against Aug’17 exports at 1.25 MnT.
The non-agglomerated (fines/lumps) iron ore exports recorded at 0.29 MnT in Aug’18, down 29% M-o-M as against 0.41 MnT in July’18. However, on yearly basis exports increased 12% as against 0.26 MnT in Aug’17.
Sweden exports to Germany up 38% on monthly basis
Germany remained the largest importer of iron ore from Sweden at 0.76 MnT, contributing 39% share of total Sweden’s export for the month. The imports witnessed 38% rise on monthly basis as against being 0.55 MnT in July’18.
Finland and UAE recorded imports at 0.2 MnT each.
Sweden exports to Netherland, Qatar and Turkey remained stable on monthly basis at 0.17 MnT, 0.16 MnT and 0.15 MnT respectively.
