Sweden, major European iron ore exporter recorded exports in Feb’19 at 1.48 MnT. The exports depicted fall by 20% on monthly basis as against 1.85 MnT in Jan’19.On yearly basis, the exports dropped 16% as against 1.76 MnT in Feb’18.
In CY’19 (Jan-Feb’19), Sweden iron ore exports witnessed at 3.33 MnT, down 13% as against 3.82 MnT for the same duration last year (Jan-Feb’18).
In Feb’19, an agglomerated (pellets/concentrate) iron ore exports have recorded 17% fall M-o-M to 1.14 MnT against 1.37 MnT in Jan’19. However, on yearly basis exports dropped 20% as against Feb’18 exports at 1.43 MnT.
The non-agglomerated (fines/lumps) iron ore exports recorded at 0.33 MnT in Feb’19, down 31% M-o-M as against 0.48 MnT in Jan’19. However, on yearly basis exports stood stable compared to Feb’18 exports.
Turkey turn out to be the largest iron ore importer from Sweden
Turkey stood the largest importer of Sweden iron ore for the month of Feb’19 at 0.38 MnT as against being nil in Jan’19. Germany imported 0.33 MnT for the month, down 20% against 0.41 MnT in Jan’19 followed by UAE at 0.2 MnT and Netherland at 0.16 MnT (down 52%).
