SteelMint’s bi-weekly domestic pellet index, “PELLEX”, remained stable at INR 16,300/t, DAP Raipur, this week. No deal was reported in this publishing window, though.
A couple of Raipur-based pellet producers are still not offering material in the merchant market due to export bookings. As per sources, a Durg-based pellet maker is continuing maintenance shutdown for the next few days.
The current offer for Fe 62.5%/63% pellet stands at INR 15,500-16,000/t, exw Raipur. Jharsuguda-based producers have raised offers by INR 300/t, although for Raigarh no offers were reported today.
An unconfirmed trade was heard for Fe 62.5% grade from Raipur at INR 15,500/t today.
A majority of buyers, though, are reluctant to take buying decisions owing to the gap in bids and offers. Bids are INR 400-500/t lower than current offers for Fe 62.5% grade pellet.
Pellet sponge (P-DRI) prices in Raipur today increased by INR 200/t to INR 31,200/t, exw. However, on a weekly basis, prices moved down by INR 200/t.
Indian pellet market overview-: Pellet prices across markets in the country remained largely stable except Bellary, which witnessed a decline of INR 300-400/t in recently reported deals. However, limited deals were reported in this publishing window.
It deserves mention that Bellary-based iron ore pellet producers have decreased offers by around INR 300/t against the last SteelMint assessment this week.
