SteelMint: PELLEX declines marginally on steep fall in P-DRI prices

SteelMint’s bi-weekly domestic pellet index “PELLEX ” has decreased by INR 50/t to INR 13,550/t DAP Raipur today. No deal has been reported in this publishing window. Owing to 10-day lockdown imposed in the Raipur market from 9th Apr evening, trading activities have turned subdued from the last two days. Buyers have turned cautious before concluding deals considering restricted material movement as an impact of lockdown.

Raipur based pellet makers have kept the offers stable at INR 13,200-13,500/t. Godawari Power has also kept the pellet (low al) offers stable at INR 14,000/t (ex-plant).

Pellet sponge (P-DRI) price in Raipur also decreased sharply today by INR 700/t to INR 29,000/t exw against yesterday. On a weekly basis, prices have moved down significantly around INR 1,000/t.

Pellet makers have continued to hold offers stable, but hardly any trades were reported at quoted offers. Traders/buyers indicated workable price levels to be lower by INR 200-500/t than prevailing offers.

  • No deal has been reported in this publishing window and hence not considered in the index calculation and kept the weightage 0% weightage.
  • Total only six firm offers and bids were reported and out of that three from Raipur and three from outside Raipur. All were taken for price calculation and given a weightage of 100%.
  • However, SteelMint has also received one bid in his publishing window and that was also considered in the index calculation.
