SteelMint’s domestic steel scrap (end-cutting) index remained steady at INR 43,800/tonne (t) DAP Mandi Gobindgarh on 11 Feb’22.
A few ingots manufacturers in Punjab region were heard to be holding the material due to higher price expectation in the coming days.
Meanwhile, finished steel (rebar/structure) demand has improved since yesterday due to the declining price trend, prompting retailers to opt for future bookings, especially rebar.
Thus, mills have also reduced their bids for scrap purchases but sellers have adopted the wait and watch mode as they are not willing to sell below the currrent offers, SteelMint learned from sources.
Today, 10 sets of trades, indicative prices/bids/offers were recorded in the publishing window.
The Index also derives the HMS 80:20 scrap (Heavy, Med), and CR -busheling prices traded in the region.
