SteelMint Daily Trade Sheet – 26 Dec’22

SteelMint’s domestic steel scrap (end-cutting) index rose INR 500/tonne (t) to INR 43,800/t DAP Mandi Gobindgarh on 26 December, 2022. The index rose as semi-finished and finished steel demand improved in yesterday’s trading session.

Steel billets prices increased to INR 45,600/tonne (t) ( +INR 600/) d-o-d exw-Raipur on 26 December, 2022. The index rose as a result of active trading at higher offers. Additionally, the strengthening in the northern region market encouraged buyers to place bookings at higher prices today. Billets transactions of around 5,300 t were recorded on 26 December in Raipur as against 1,100 t, as reported on 24 December.

SteelMint’s daily sponge iron, CDRI, index is assessed at INR 32,000/tonne (t) (+ INR 100) exw-Rourkela on 26 December, 2022. The index rose as a result of active demand and the rise in prices in north India, particularly Punjab. Due to increased demand, regional providers floated higher offers. About 4,650 t of transactions were recorded on 26 December as against 2,800 t on 24 December.
