SteelMint’s weekly Odisha iron ore fines (Fe 62%) index inched up by INR 200/t to INR 3,700/t ex-mines on 22 October, 2022. In line with expectations, at Odisha Mining Corporation’s (OMC’s) iron ore fines auction on 19 October 2022, 0.944 mnt, or 91% of the total quantity put on offer (1.037 mnt), received bids.
SteelMint’s daily steel billet index was assessed at INR 47,500/tonne (t) (+ INR 200/t) exw-Raipur on 22 October, 2022. Prices in the northern region rose following which producers raised their offers for mahurat trading, which supported the index. Spot billet deals dropped to 2,000 t on 22 October in Raipur as against 2,450 t on 21 October.
