Steel output by Tata Steel moves up in March

Tata Steel has reported that its crude steel production rose
by 2.6 per cent to 1.82 million tonnes (mt) in the March quarter. Its saleable
steel output was up at 1.77 mt (1.73 mt).

Hot metal production rose 1.3 per cent to 1.96 mt (1.93 mt),
while total steel sales were up 3.3 per cent at 1.76 mt (1.71 mt), according to
the company's press release.

Whereas, the long products division (used in the realty
sector) achieved best ever Tiscon (a brand) sales of 2.08 mt (previous best
1.83 mt in FY'11). Tiscon also crossed its one million tonne sale in the retail
segment, selling 1.11 mt (previous best 0.779 mt in FY11).
