Anthracite coal market in India has remained immune to recovery.
Lackluster demand has continued to restrict import books in the overseas market.
In the meantime, import offers are learnt to have remained stable at the rates assessed last. According to a reputed importer, the latest offers are assessed at around USD 96/MT, CFR India.
Indian buyers have almost discarded the relatively high-priced Anthracite coal as cheaper alternate fuels like Petcoke and other forms of coal, are available abundantly, both in domestic as well as international markets.
During Apr’16, only 38,000 MT of Russian material was imported into India, as per data available with SteelMint till 11Apr’16. The lone import consignment was procured by Bhusan Steel.
