Spot prices for coking coal in Asian market remained firm due
to cautious buyers and market participants maintaining wait and watch attitude.
Currently, premium Low volume material grade is available at
around $165/MT FOB Australia converting to $181/MT CFR India, however material of 64
Mid Volume is at around $152/MT FOB. Freight from Australia to Indian ports is at
around $16/MT on Panamax basis.
Reopening of Aurizon's Moura line in central Queensland has
little effect in the seaborne market with restrictions at Blackwater and Moura affecting
the shipments to the seaborne market.
“It is difficult to sell (on spot market) if you can't be sure
of the current logistical arrangements,” said a miner based in Australia.
Supporting the statement a source said, fresh offers for spot cargoes to China
might be delayed till May as the exports in Australia are affected by
weather-related problems, especially between December and May which limits rail
speed and port loading.
