Special Report: JSW Steel loads 1,164 Iron Ore Rakes in Jan-Mar’14

JSW Steel loaded 1,164 rakes of Iron ore in Q4 FY14. Every rake has capacity of 3,950 MT but on an average 3,850 MT is being loaded. According to special report on Iron ore movement by SteelMint, it was noted that 579 rakes were loaded from Karnataka, 272 rakes were loaded from Chhattisgarh and 313 rakes were loaded from Odisha/Jharkhand for its Vijaynagar, Dolvi & Salem unit.

Rakes which have been loaded from Chattisgarh are of NMDC (Kirandul and Bacheli), rakes loaded from Odisha are of private mines like Rungta Mines, Essel, KN Ram, Serajuddin and Indrani Patnaik. Rakes loaded from Karnataka are Iron Ore E-auctioned by MSTC.

JSW Steel is India’s leading steel producer company with production capacity of 14.3 MnT pa. It has been struggling hard to source Iron Ore owing to ban in Karnataka. Recently company has paced up sourcing of Iron Ore from Odisha and Jharkhand due to lower prices and high grade.

JSW Steel recently reported that production of crude steel stood at 12.17 MnT for FY14.
