Spain Finished Steel Exports Surge in May 2019

In the month of May’19, the crude steel production of Spain was around 1,276,000 MT and in CY19 (Jan-May) it was approximately 6,250,000 MT. Meanwhile, in CY18 (Jan-May) the figure of crude steel production stood at 6,248,000 MT, according to the World Steel Association.

In May’19, Spain majorly exported finish flat steel to France (27%), Portugal (12%) & Morocco (8%). Inline finished long steel it largely exported to France (20%), United Kingdom (10%) & Algeria (9%) in the month.

Spain Flat steel exports incline by 5% M-o-M in May’19

Nation’s flat steel exports rise by 4.8% on monthly basis to 214,510 MT in May’19 in comparison with 204,696 MT in Apr’19. And on yearly premises the exports registered an increased slightly in May’19 as against 213,637 MT in May’18.

Spain majorly exports flat steel products to France witnessed incline in export volumes on monthly basis by 10% & stood at 58,541 MT in May’19.

Major flat steel importing nations in Jan-May’19 included France at 288,117 MT and Portugal 115,761 MT. Other major importing nations include Morocco and Turkey at 88,591 MT & 83,090 MT of flat steel imports from Spain.

Spain Finished Long steel exports rise by 20% M-o-M in May’19

Country’s long steel exports in May’19 stood at 451,828 MT, increased by 20% as compared to 375,014 MT in Apr’19.

And, on yearly premises exports decline by 4.2% in May’19 as compared to 471,687 MT in May’18.

Major finished long steel buyers of Spain were France at 90,590 MT, United Kingdom 43,867 MT, Algeria 42,557 MT and Portugal 38,863 MT in May’19.
