In the month of Apr’19, the crude steel production of Spain was around 1,288,000 MT and in CY19 (Jan-Apr) it was approximately 4,974,000 MT. Meanwhile, in CY18 (Jan-Apr) the figure of crude steel production stood at 4,911,000 MT, according to the World Steel Association.
In Apr’19, Spain majorly exported finish flat steel to France (26%), Portugal (14%) & Morocco (8%). Inline finished long steel it largely exported to France (20%), Portugal (9%) & United Kingdom (9%) in the month.
Spain Flat steel exports decline by 16% M-o-M in Apr’19
Nation’s flat steel exports fall by 15.8% on monthly basis to 204,696 MT in Apr’19 in comparison with 242,964 MT in Mar’19. And on yearly premises the exports registered an increase of 11.9% in Apr’19 against 182,859 MT in Apr’18.
Spain majorly exports flat steel products to France witnessed decline in export volumes on monthly basis. Lacklustre demand in France amid limited demand from automobile sector along with bearish market sentiments in turn led to the reduced volumes of exports from Spain.
Major flat steel importing nations in Jan-Apr’19 included France at 229,576 MT and Portugal 90,852 MT. Other major importing nations include Morocco and Italy at 71,341 MT & 68,437 MT of flat steel imports from Spain.
Spain Finished Long steel exports plunged by 10% M-o-M in Apr’19
Country’s long steel exports in Apr’19 stood at 375,014 MT, decreased by 10% as compared to 416,823 MT in Mar’19.
Inline, on yearly premises exports decline by 15.5% in Apr’19 as compared to 444,055 MT in Apr’18.
Major finished long steel buyers of Spain were France at 73,932 MT, Portugal 35,251 MT,United Kingdom 35,170 MT and Algeria 35,070 MT in Apr’19.
