Domestic melting scrap prices in southern India (Chennai) observed marginal decline by INR 200/t d-o-d basis owing to cost-effective sponge iron available from Bellary. Recent deals of sponge were reported at INR 16,300-16,400/t FoR to Chennai where scrap trade reference HMS (80:20) stands at INR 21,300/t FoR.
