South32’s manganese ore production drops by 55% in Q2CY’24

In Q2CY’24, South32’s manganese ore production decreased by 55% q-o-q to 0.534 wmnt. Australian manganese production temporarily suspended operations in March 2024 due to the impacts of tropical cyclone Megan. However, South African manganese production remained stable with slight increase by 1%, reaching 0.534 wmnt, as the operation delivered improved mining performance and lifted output of secondary products to capitalise on stronger manganese prices.
