South32’s total coal production declined by 34.42% to 766,000 t in Q1FY’25 from 1,168,000 t in Q1FY’24, as the company finalised its sale of Illawarra Metallurgical Coal. This marks a strategic shift as South32 realigns its portfolio. Meanwhile, during the same period, metallurgical coal output dropped to 676,000 t.
