- KTC proposes imposing tariffs for 5 years
- Duty to be levied on imports from 4 firms
South Korea’s Korea Trade Commission (KTC) has recommended imposing a 21.62% anti-dumping tariff on stainless steel plates from four Chinese firms for five years.
The firms include Schuang International Development Ltd., STX Japan Corp., Best Win International Co., and Jiangsu Daekyung Stainless Steel Co. This move aims to protect domestic producers and stabilise the regional stainless steel market amid trade tensions.
The KTC’s decision follows a complaint by DK Corp. and a detailed investigation starting in September last year, which found that imported Chinese stainless steel plates caused substantial damage to South Korea’s industry.
These plates are widely used in sectors such as natural gas, shipbuilding, semiconductors, and displays. The affected goods had already faced provisional duties since March, and the final tariffs are expected to further curb imports and support local manufacturers.
