South Korea: Thermal coal imports decline 10% in Feb’22

South Korea’s thermal coal imports fell by 10% m-o-m to 8.08 mn t in Feb’22, as per customs data. The decline in imports was due to supply constraints in key exporting countries and geopolitical tensions in Ukraine-Russia that drove global prices higher. Shipments from Australia fell by 26% m-o-m to 4 mnt in Feb. However, vessel arrivals from Indonesia rose by 18% m-o-m to 1.6 mnt.
