As per custom data maintained with SteelMint, South Korean flat steel imports surged while iron ore, coal and finish long steel imports drop in Sep’19.
Coal- South Korean coal imports have decreased by around 16% during Sep’19, weighted down by weaker receipt of Coking coal which had tumbled to its lowest total for CY19.
Data provided by Korean custom indicates that, the country had imported 11.45 MnT coal in Sep’19 against 13.56 MnT in Aug’19, which was also 11% lower on the year from 12.86 MnT in Sep’18.
Iron ore- South Korean Iron ore Import is registered at 5.14 MnT in Sep’19 plunged by 27.09% M-o-M against 7.05 MnT in Aug’19. On yearly basis imports marginal up by 0.98% against 5.09 MnT in Sep’18.
Semi Finish- The country’s semi-finish (Billet/Pig iron) import is registered at 0.12 MnT in Sep’19; plunged by 14.28% against 0.14 MnT in Aug’19. In line yearly premises import down by 20% in Sep’19 as compared to 0.15 MnT in Sep’18.
Finish Long Steel- South Korean Finish long steel imports registered at 0.16 MnT in Sep’19 plunged by 11.11% M-o-M as against 0.18 MnT in Aug’19. However on yearly premises, the country’s import of long steel is increased by 14.28% in Sep’19 as against 0.14 MnT in Sep’18.
Finish Flat Steel- On a monthly basis flat steel import is recorded at 0.74 MnT in Sep’19 increased by 10.44% against 0.67 MnT in Aug’19. Also on Y-o-Y basis, imports surged by 23.33% in Sep’19 as compared to 0.6 MnT in Sep’18.
Finish Flat Stainless Steel import is registered at 71,328 MT in Sep’19 surged by 15.7% against 61,652 MT in Aug’19 and on yearly basis imports gain by 6.2% in Sep’19 from 67,138 MT in Sep’18.
Ferro Alloy- South Korean Ferro alloy import on monthly basis is registered at 67,763 MT in Sep’19 down by 28.6% as against 94,903 MT in Aug’19. Y-o-Y also import is plunged by 20.1% in Sep’19 as against 84,835 MT in Sep’18.
Graphite Electrode- On M-o-M South Korea Graphite Electrode import is increased by 19.1% to 3,805 MT in Sep’19 than the 3,194 MT in Aug’19, and on yearly basis imports down by 6% in Sep’19 as against 4,048 MT in Sep’18.
