As per the data maintained with SteelMint, steel exports log of South Korea for the month of Oct’19 is as follows:
1: The nation’s semi-finished exports for Oct’19 stood at 16,562 MT, declined by 13% as compared with 19,113 MT in Sep’19. However, on a yearly premise, the same reported a plunge in Oct’19 in comparison with 40,196 MT in Oct’18.
2: The finished long exports inched down by 2% to 1,99,112 MT in Oct’19 over 2,02,336 MT in Sep’19. However, the same remained largely stable in Oct’19 against 1,99,024 MT in Oct’18.
3: The finished flat exports remain largely stable at 18,68,026 MT in Oct’19 as against 18,66,440 MT in Sep’19. However, inched down by 1% in Oct’19 over 18,90,357 MT per Oct’18.
South Korean finish flat exports remained supported with an increase in shipments to China at 3,13,696 MT (up 18%, M-o-M) and Japan at 2,36,893 MT (up 4%, M-o-M) in Oct’19. However, exports to India declined by 21% M-o-M to 1,38,943 MT in Oct’19 owing to the slow demand in the steel market and falling steel prices amid monsoon season. Also, rumors on safeguard duty kept the nation’s flat steel exports in a declining mode. These reasons attribute to the stability in the nation’s finish flat steel exports in Oct’19.
4: The ferro alloy exports accounted for 12,265 MT in Oct’19, inching down by 1% as against 12,399 MT in the preceding month. However, on a yearly premise, the same plunged by 31% in Oct’19 in contrast with 17,722 MT in Oct’18.
