As per the data maintained with SteelMint, the export log of South Korea in Apr’20 reads as follows:
1. Semi-finished-
The nation’s semi-finished steel exports accounted for 66,158 MT in Apr’20, rising by 30% as against 50,735 MT in Mar’20. On the other hand, the same witnessed a drastic increase in Apr’20 in contrast with 24,872 MT in Apr’20.
2. Finish long-
The nation’s finish long exports fell by 8% in Apr’20 to 1,98,215 MT when compared with 2,14,456 MT a month ago. On the other hand, the same rose by 7% annually as against 1,85,660 MT in Apr’19.
3. Finish flat-
South Korea’s finish flat exports declined by 21% to 15,99,492 MT in Apr’20 as compared with 20,34,618 MT in the preceding month. On a yearly note, the same fell by 20% in Apr’20 compared with 19,95,819 MT in Apr’19.
The increased reliance of Chinese and Vietnamese importers on cheaper materials from other exporting nations like India and Japan amid competitive offers has been attributed to the reduced exports volume in Apr’20.
4. Ferro Alloys-
The nation’s ferro-alloys export witnessed a fall of 15% to 15,127 MT in Apr’20 in comparison with 17,778 MT in the previous month. In similar lines, the exports fell by 3% in Apr’20 as against 15,700 MT in Apr’19.
