Steel giant POSCO has recently announced the preponement of repair works at hot-rolling plant 1, which was earlier scheduled to be finished by mid-October 2022. This will enable the steelmaker to restart production of hot-rolled coils (HRC), cold-rolled coils (CRC), galvanised and electrical steel sheets at the mill.
Notably, POSCO has completed repair of its electrical steel plant 2 and 3 in September and commenced operations at cold-rolling (CR) plant 1 from 6 October.
With the restoration activities getting completed at facilities in Pohang, customers will be able to receive orders as earlier. Meanwhile, the supply of some of the products will be done from the Gwangyang works till the completion of all the facilities at Pohang.
Furthermore, the steel major has plans to complete repair works at the HR plate mill 1 by this month, followed by HR plate mill 2 next month and HR plant 2, CR plant 2 by December.
