South Korea: Major mills lift domestic scrap prices after 5 months

  • South Korean steel majors have hiked domestic scrap purchase prices after five months owing to limited inventories and improving demand of rebar, as per SteelDaily.
  • Hyundai Steel (for Incheon, Pohang and Dangjin works), Daehan, YK and Korea Steel raise prices by KRW 20,000/t ($15/t) for all grades.
  • Dongkuk Steel increases prices by KRW 10,000/t ($7/t) for its Incheon plant, effective 23 Aug.
