- Wooyang bids $28.49/t for Westshore-Boryeong shipment
- Pan Ocean quotes $14.80/t for Taboneo-Yongheung cargo
Freight bids for Indonesian coal shipments to South Korea showed a wide divergence in the latest Korea Electric Power Corporation (KEPCO) tenders on 21 October, with Wooyang quoting $28.49/tonne (t) for a Westshore-Boryeong shipment and Pan Ocean bidding $14.80/t for a Taboneo-Yongheung cargo.
Wooyang’s bid covered an 80,000 t shipment from Westshore to Boryeong, with loading scheduled for 6-15 November. Pan Ocean quoted $14.80/t for an 80,000 t shipment from Taboneo to Yongheung, scheduled for loading on 10-19 November.
The $13.69/t difference between the two bids highlights the variation in freight quotations across individual shipment requirements.
In the previous KEPCO tenders on 19 and 20 October, Korea Line bid $15.72/t for an 80,000 t shipment from NPLCT to Gangreung, while Pan Ocean quoted $13.38/t for an 80,000 t cargo from Balikpapan to Boryeong.
The latest Pan Ocean bid of $14.80/t was $1.42/t, or 10.6%, higher than its 20 October bid. Wooyang’s $28.49/t quotation was substantially higher than the other reported bids, although the different routes and loading windows limit direct comparison.
The latest tender indications point to mixed freight pricing for Indonesian coal shipments to South Korea, with route-specific factors likely influencing individual bids.
