South Korean government has hiked its electricity charges by KRW 5/kWh for Jul-Sep’22 quarter. This has come amid costlier coal and LNG prices.This is the second hike this year. The last hike of KRW 6.9/kWh was made in the second quarter (Apr-Jun). Coal purchasing cost for power utility, Kepco, rose to an average of KRW 257.28/kg over March-May period from KRW 218.5/kg in Dec’21-Feb’22 period.
