South Korean mills produced 602,232 tonnes (t) of hot-dipped galvanized (HDG) sheet in Mar’22, down 1% compared to 606,462 t in Feb’. Similarly, production dropped by 6% against 642,910 t in the corresponding period last year.
During the first quarter of the calender year (Jan-Mar’22), HDG output stood at 1.90 million tonnes (mnt), down marginally by 1% compared with 1.92 mnt seen in the same period last year.
Sales up 10% m-o-m in March
South Korea’s hot-dipped galvanized sheet sales aggregated to 653,057 t in Mar’22, jumped 10% against 594,366 t a month ago.On the contrary, sales volume dropped by 7% against 702,367 t in Mar’21.
Out of the total sales, domestic sales accounted for 388,328 t in Mar’22, up 8% on m-o-m basis. While on an annualized basis, the domestic sales dropped by 3% compared to 399,314 t in Mar’21.
Exports were registered at 264,729 t, up 13%, m-o-m. However, the same fell by 13% in y-o-y basis against 303,053 t in Mar’21.
In Jan-Mar’22, total sales edged down by 4% to 1.91 mnt as against 1.98 mnt in Jan-Mar’21.
