South Korea -is world’s third largest steel exporter.In 2016 the nation has exported 22.5 MnT of steel against 22.9 MnT in 2015.However,South Korea’s exports accounts for about 7% of all steel exported globally in 2015.
According to the latest customs data, South Korea flat steel exports which includes 7208 (HR coils /Plates),7209 (CR coils), 7225 (Electrical sheets),7210/7212(GP/GC) have recorded the growth of 7%, Y-o-Y basis in Apr’17 and stood at 1.88 MnT as compared to 1.76 MnT in Apr’16.
On monthly basis, South Korean flat steel exports, decline marginally by 0.5% in Apr’17 against Mar’17. In Mar’17 the same stood at 1.89 MnT.
During the period of Jan-Apr’17 country’s flat steel exports rose by 1.2% to 7.58 MnT against 7.49 MnT in similar time-frame of previous year.
Grade-wise South Korea Flat Steel exports in Apr’17
If grade-wise analysis is made, then 7208 exports rose by 7.25%,M-o-M in Apr’17 against Mar’17 whereas 7209 have shown significant growth in Apr’17 against previous month. Although, grade 7210,7225 and 7212 declined significantly in Apr’17’against last month.
Country-wise South Korea Flat Steel Exports in Apr’17
China remained the major flat steel importer to South Korea and imported 3,05,824 MT in Apr’17 against 3,11,372 MT of flat steel in Mar’17.Other major countries include Japan,India followed by US and Mexico.
