SteelDaily: The total volume of imported ferrous scrap at South Korea’s major ports rose to 53,500 tonnes (t) in end-March compared to 50,713 t in mid-March. Demand from steel mills was steady, which led to a slight rise in scrap arrivals.
Bar steel companies received 49.5% of the total scrap arrivals, while special steel sheet ones accounted for 50.5%.
Notably, a net addition of 36,500 t was recorded in portside scrap stocks since 17 March, according to the port entry report and after removing duplicates.
Company-wise scrap arrivals
Hyundai Steel – A total of 22,500 with 10,500 t at Incheon and 12,000 t at Dangjin (highest among all companies).
SeAH Besteel – 21,000 t at Gunsan Port.
Daehan Steel/Taewoong Steel – 4,000 t at Jinhae Port.
POSCO – 6,000 t at Gwangyang Port.
