- POSCO emerges as highest importer
- Dongkuk Steel continues to avoid imports
SteelDaily: The total volume of imported ferrous scrap at South Korea’s major ports fell to 79,432 tonnes (t) in mid-February, down by 20,000 t from the previous week.
However, most of the volume is expected to be unloaded starting this weekend, suggesting it comes from contracts made after early February.
Company-wise arrivals
Hyundai Steel – 9,032 t at Dangjin Port and 10,000 t at the Incheon plant. Additional volumes are expected to be arriving in Incheon.
SeAH Besteel – 12,100 t at Gunsan Port, with delivery expected in mid-to-late February.
Daehan Steel/Taewoong Steel – 7,300 t at Jinhae Port.
POSCO – 16,500 t at Pohang and another 24,500 t at Gwangyang Port (highest importer).
Dongkuk Steel has not made any imports since December 2024.
The vessel OCEAN DRACO, which transported 16,500 t to POSCO Gwangyang, is set to finish unloading by 25 February before heading to Pohang.
