In the month of April ’17 the country imported 0.40 MnT which was down by 21% as compared to the month prior where 0.51 MnT of ferrous scrap was imported. However, a 12 month comparison from April’16 to April’17 the imports showed a correction of 14%. South Korea is the 3rd largest ferrous scrap importer across the globe. It imported 5.6 MnT in CY16.
The largest country exporting scrap to South Korea continued to be Japan with a total of 0.29 MnT contributing 74% of the total imports by the country. The other major contributors being Russian Federation exporting 0.07 MnT and United States exporting 0.01 MnT being the top 3 exporters.
