South Korea: Cold-rolled sheet production drops nearly 5%, y-o-y, in March

South Korea’s domestic production of cold-rolled steel sheets in March, 2022 was 670,859 tonnes (t), a decrease of 4.5% from the same month last year, as per Korea Steel Association.

Cold-rolled steel sheet production in the first quarter of 2022 was assessed at 204,552 t, down 3.5% compared to the same period last year.

Domestic and overseas sales

On the other hand, total sales volume increased by 3.1% to 667,216 t in March, 2022, whereas sales in Q1 was 1.99 mnt, up 0.8% year-on-year (y-o-y).

Domestic sales stood at 851,131 t, down 3% y-o-y, while overseas sales were recorded at 1.14 mnt, up 3.8% y-o-y.

Domestic sales of cold-rolled steel sheets in March were 289,345 t, down 3.1% from the same month last year. Meanwhile, total overseas sales were 378,871 t, an increase of 8.4% y-o-y.

Country-wise sales 

Sales of cold-rolled sheets to Indonesia were recorded at 9,739 t (up 9.3% y-o-y), followed by Taiwan at 6,667 t (up 198.3%), India at 16,105 t (up 24.9% y-o-y) and Europe at 33,264 t (up 16.8% y-o-y).
