South India’s country-wise bulk scrap imports in FY’25

The bulk vessels arriving at ports such as Chennai and Vizag primarily originate from Japan, Singapore, Malaysia, and the US. Japan led the tally with 86,245 t shipped to south India in FY’25. Containerised scrap shipments from the Far East and Southeast Asia reach south Indian ports faster than those from Europe or the US, giving local mills a logistical edge.
