Bangladesh ship breaking prices remain stable – According to the price assessment, the prices in Bangladesh stood at $360/LT for Containers, $330/LT for Dry bulk and $350/LT for Tanker. Demand in the Bangladesh market has remained at a decent level as Chittagong based buyers are still active.
In terms of sales this week
- The Panamax bulker-MICHELLE HK (10,338 LDT) finalized at $377/LT.
- A PCC unit- SINGLE EAGLE (5,048 LDT) concluded at $415/LT.
The total tonnage reported last week in the Chattogram port was at 5,891 LDT. One bulk Reefer beached in the port namely Uthaiwan (1,748 LDT).
Ship cutting activities slow down in India due to diverted oxygen supplies- Furthermore in India, due to massively increasing Covid cases oxygen supplies are being diverted to local hospitals and away from ship recycling yards, leading to an unexpected slowdown in cutting. While no major trade reported in the Alang port this week.
The total tonnage reported in the Alang port last week was at 33,778 LDT. The Indian Rupee against the US dollar stood near about INR 73.5.
SteelMint’s weekly price assessment of Alang stood at around $350/LT for containers, $320/LT for Dry bulk and $340/LT for Tanker.
Limited trades reported in Pakistan – In Pakistan, trade activity reached its peak & the demand is fulfilled now with smaller LDT units & it may be expected that Gadani prices start to come down in the coming weeks. As of now the prices for containers reached at $370/LT for Containers, $340/LT for Dry bulk and $360/LT for Tanker. The total tonnage reported in the Gadani port, Pakistan last week was 158,899 LDT.
