In Pakistan, Gadani buyers’ achieved impressive sales of scrapped ships in the last week & remained the most suitably positioned on any available non-green units for sale.
The prices in Gadani port for Containers reached at $380/LT, Dry Bulk at $360/LT & Tankers at $370/LT. Offers remained unchanged on weekly basis.
Recent bookings by Pakistan are almost 2 years high at about 205,189 LDT and prior to this, the major volumes were recorded during Jun’18 at 345,135 LDT.
Major buyers in Pakistan have returned to the market after staying away for a long time, due to the currency crisis and several high profile accidents leading to yard closure.
- The 6,011 LDT Handysize Bulker ABK TRADER was committed to Gadani Recyclers at a $392/LT.
- The total tonnage in Gadani port during last week stood at 48,880 LDT; two tankers reported in the port namely Jaguar (17,027 LDT) & Livramento (9,000 LDT).
India & Bangladesh
Prices remained largely stable compared to the previous week in other sub-continent recycling markets. Also, there was no fresh deal during last week.
- In India, prices for Containers in Alang port stood at $360/LT, $340/LT for Dry bulk and $350/LT for Tanker. The total tonnage reported last week in the Alang port was at 53,666 LDT.
- The prices in Chattogram port, Bangladesh for containers were assessed at $370/LT, Dry Bulk at $350/LT & Tankers at $360/LT
