South Asia: Mixed trends prevail in imported ferrous scrap market; Indian buyers remain silent

The South Asian ferrous scrap market showed mixed trends today. India’s demand remained slow due to bid-offer disparities and a sluggish domestic steel market. Pakistani buyers adopted a need-based approach, while Bangladeshi buyers faced delays in LC approvals. Shredded scrap offers from the UK/Europe were:

  • India: $410-414/t CFR Nhava Sheva
  • Pakistan: $426/t CFR Qasim
  • Bangladesh: $424/t CFR Chattogram
