South Asia: Imported scrap prices slightly up in recent trades

South Asia’s imported scrap prices inched up in the recently concluded deals. Pakistan and India continued booking ferrous scrap. On the other hand, Bangladesh remained absent after booking some cargoes in the previous week.

• 1,000 t HMS-1 of Dubai-origin is traded at $480/t CFR. In another deal, 500 t of HMS (80:20) of West Africa-origin was booked at $450/t Nhava Sheva. As per SteelMint’s assessment, Europe-origin shredded scrap stands at $520/t CFR Nhava Sheva, up $2/t w-o-w.
• 400 t of containerised shredded scrap of UK-origin is traded at $520/t, CFR Pakistan. As per SteelMint’s assessment, Europe-origin shredded scrap stands at $520-525/t CFR Pakistan, up $6/t w-o-w.
• SteelMint’s assessment for shredded scrap of Europe-origin into Bangladesh stands at $540/t CFR Nhava Sheva, unchanged w-o-w.
