South Africa: RBCT Coal Shipment dropped by 16.2% (M-o-M)

Richards Bay Coal Terminal (RBCT), world leading coal exporting port has reported 16.2% (M-o-M) drop in coal shipment and shipped around 5.1 Million Tonnes (MnT) in August 2013. However, Coal shipped in July 2013 is 12.2% less as compared to the same period of last year.

RBCT port has received around 866 rakes with coal in August, 2013 which is 16.5% more from the July, 2013. This also led to increase in port's coal stock by 49.6% at around 4.6 MnT. Year to date RBCT have received around 5870 no. of coal Rakes.

In the month of August, total 46 vessels have been loaded, out of which 31 was Capesize vessels, 7 was Panamax vessels and 8 was Handysize vessels. Year to date RBCT have shipped 403 vessels including 279 Capesize vessels, 46 Panamax vessels and 78 Handysize vessels.

RBCT has shipped year to date around 44.4 MnT of coal to the world, which has slightly increased by 0.37% compared to the same period in the last year.

Southern Asia – 36% (16.17 MnT)

Eastern Asia – 29% (12.85 MnT)

Western Asia – 12% (5.2 MnT)

Western Europe – 9% (4.06 MnT)

Southern Europe – 4% (1.97 MnT)

Eastern Africa – 3% (1.16 MnT)

South-Eastern Asia – 3% (1.28 MnT)

Northern Europe – 1% (0.59 MnT)

Western Africa – 1% (0.24 MnT)

Eastern Europe – 1% (0.35 MnT)

South America – 1% (0.30 MnT)

Northern Africa – 0.4% (0.19 MnT)

It has been noted that Non-Coking Coal of 6000 NAR (RB-1) is being traded at USD 71-73/MT FOB RBCT.
