South Africa pig iron exports decline by around 20,000 MT (33%) M-o-M in October’17, according to the South African customs.
The nation has exported about 40,000 MT pig iron during October’17 against 60,000 MT in September’17. United States (10,000 MT) remains the largest importer, inline Netherlands, Italy, Germany & South Korea imported around 10,000 MT each respectively.
Coming to total exports in CY17 (Jan-Oct) it has been registered at 400,000 MT, surge by 60% against 250,000 MT in the same period during 2016. On yearly calculation, the country exported around 310,000 MT in CY16 & at 430,000 MT in CY15.
Similarly, in the total pig iron exports during the CY17 (Jan-Oct), the major buyers of South African Pig iron was – United States (28.18%), Netherlands (15.09%), and Italy (10.85%).
Tradewise
1. Pakistan continued to remain the largest importer of South African ferrous scrap so far in CY17 with 0.14 MnT imports during Jan-Oct’17. In line Bangladesh doubled its ferrous scrap imports from the nation.
2. The global export offers of steel grade Pig Iron are assessed at USD 330-350/MT FoB Brazil & USD 345-350/MT FoB India.
3. South African RB2 (5500 NAR) coal offers are assessed at USD 79/MT on FoB basis & USD 91-92/MT CNF India.
4. Presently, export offers of iron ore lumps, Fe 64% are at USD 67/MT Richard Bay, FoB South Africa.
