South Africa: New policy to restrict, regulate trade in ferrous & non-ferrous metal

  • South African government is implementing a policy to stop damage to infrastructure and the economy by regulating and restricting international trade of ferrous and non-ferrous metal scrap, semi-finished along with other metal products.
  • During the temporary prohibition phase one, a few exceptions were made for stainless steel and ferrous waste, and scrap metal produced in the regular course of business as a byproduct of a production process.
