According to South African customs, the country has witnessed a decrease of 18% M-o-M in its Manganese Ore exports.
South Africa exported 1.38 MnT in Aug’18 against 1.69 MnT in Jul’18. However, on yearly basis, South African Manganese Ore exports recorded a substantial increase of 23% as it was 1.12 MnT in Aug’17.
The fall in Manganese Ore exports from South Africa can be attributed to the depreciated INR and Yuan vis-à-vis the USD which discouraged the buyers from importing. Moreover, China had sufficient stock in their ports which were available at a comparatively lower price.
Although China was the largest importer of South African Ore, it witnessed a fall of 29% M-o-M followed by India which also recorded a fall of 31% M-o-M among others.
