Iron ore exports from South Africa have fallen by 12% M-o-M and stood at 5.10 MnT in Nov’15. Iron ore export figures from South Africa was recorded at 5.81 MnT in Oct’15.
In comparison with the figures of Nov’14, the figures are down by 1.9%. South African iron ore exports were recorded at 5.20 MnT in Nov’14.
South African iron ore has been a preference for Indian importers. South African lump being of high tumbler index and rich ferrous content is still being imported by Indian importers. As per customs data maintained by SteelMint, India imported 5.81 MnT (nearly 38% of total imports) iron ore from South Africa last fiscal. In FY16 (till Dec’15) India has imported 3.06 MnT iron ore from South Africa.
Current offers for imported South African lump are around USD 48-50/MT, CFR Kandla. South African fines (Fe 65%) prices are currently at USD 42.8/MT, CFR China.
