South Africa: Glencore’s ferro chrome production surges 43%, y-o-y, in CY’21

Multinational trading and mining company Glencore’s ferro chrome production stood at 1.468 mnt in CY’21 – a sharp rise of 43% y-o-y from 1.029 mnt in CY’20. The surge in production was mainly due to a low base effect because of the pandemic-induced national lockdown in South Africa in CY’20 as well as strong operating performance by Glencore in CY’21.
