South Africa: Force Majeure declared at RBCT port due to heavy rains

Amid strong winds and heavy rains being experienced from tropical storm ‘Eloise’ in South Africa, the Richards Bay port has declared Force Majeure (FM). The weather conditions have resulted in slow loading of vessels, flooded rails lines, and berthing delays at port. The FM will last until backlog of vessels are serviced and stockpiles, rail lines have been cleared of water. Subsequently, S.African thermal coal prices are likely to see a surge in the upcoming days.
