South African Ferro Chrome exports have witnessed a rise of 15% M-o-M in Jan’17 against Dec’16.
South Africa, the largest exporter as well as the second largest producer of Ferro Chrome in the world, has exported 0.32 MnT in Jan’17, as per South African Trade Customs. In Dec’16, the said country has exported 0.274 MnT of Ferro Chrome.
Moreover, Ferro Chrome export by South Africa registered an increase of around 17% Y-o-Y in Jan’17 against Jan’16 at 0.267 MnT.
China’s Ferro Chrome import from South Africa at 0.06 MnT in Jan’17
China remains the largest consumer of South African Ferro Chrome. In Jan’17,
China imported 0.06 MnT Ferro Chrome against 0.09 MnT in Dec’16.
China has witnessed a decrease of around 34% M-o-M in its Ferro Chrome imports from South Africa. There has also been a decrease of 21% on Y-o-Y basis while comparing Jan’17 volumes with that of Jan’16 exports.
Most of the Ferro Chrome produced in South Africa is exported to the Far East (China, Japan, South Korea and Taiwan) since it is the epicenter of stainless steel production. However, in Jan’17, United States, Italy and Japan stood as the second, third and fourth largest importers of South African Ferro Chrome.
