South Africa, one of the largest chrome ore exporters, exported 0.85 MnT of chrome ore in May’16. The monthly export increased by 6.20% against 0.80 MnT in Apr’16 and Y-o-Y export by 32.73% against 0.64 MnT in May’15.
There has been a consistent growth in exports during Jan’16 to May’16, There was a growth of 22.72% in Feb’16, 25.92% in Mar’16 and 17.64% in Apr’16 in export.
China being the largest importer of South African Chrome ore, imported 0.53 MnT in May’16, followed by Hong Kong, Singapore, Switzerland and Turkey with total respective import of 0.13 MnT, 0.04 MnT, 0.04 MnT and 0.02 MnT in May’16.

India imported 0.01 MnT of chrome ore in May’16 and 0.04 MnT during Jan-May’16. On M-o-M basis, there is a fall of 30.38% in import during Apr-May’16.
