According to preliminary custom data, South Africa Chrome Ore export witnessed a marginal decline of 8% to 0.82 MnT in Apr’17 as compared to the previous month. In Mar’17 the South African Chrome Ore exports stood at around 0.90 MnT.
China’s Chrome Ore Imports
China remains the largest importer of South African Chrome ore which imported 0.50 MnT in Apr’17, followed by Mozambique and United States.
On M-o-M basis, China witnessed a marginal decrease of 2% in its South African Chrome Ore imports in Apr’17 against 0.51 in Mar’17.
Chrome Ore Scenario
Chrome ore prices weakened in all global regions as consumer interest and spot activity became increasingly scarce due to the lackluster Stainless Steel and Ferro Chrome market.
Sources reported to SteelMint that South Africa 42% UG2 chrome ore deals were concluded at USD 130/MT CIF China this week.
