During Jan-Jun 2020 South Africa exported a total of 6.22 mn t of chrome ore, down 8.59% from the 6.80 mn t exported during same period of last year. The fall in exports can be attributed to Chinese demand getting hampered after the outbreak of coronavirus, as almost all of South African chrome ore exports are shipped to China.
