South African chrome ore exports decreased by 30% to 0.515 mnt until 19 May 2022 against April 2022 (0.746 mnt). Chrome ore shipments continued to fall after the floods in South Africa. Fall in chrome ore dispatches from Durban were recorded at 50,000 t in May. There was a plunge in the shipment from Richard’s Bay, while shipments from Maputo remained stable. Meanwhile, shipment of 0.700 mnt -0.750 mnt is expected in May 2022.
