Mining giant South 32 has reported a significant fall in its thermal coal output in the Jul-Sept’21 quarter. Production of thermal coal dropped 19%, q-o-q, and 38% on the year to 0.31 mn t. The decline in production was mainly due to lower sales of low-grade coal amid elevated freight charges. Sales of thermal coal during the period fell 54%, y-o-y, to 0.22 mn t.
