World Steel Association forecasted steel demand would contract by 2.4% to 1,725.1 mn t in 2020 though it is a much smaller decline than previously expected. A strong recovery in China will mitigate the reduction in global steel demand this year. Steel demand in 2021 is expected to recover by 4.1% to 1,795.1 mn t. WSA predicts.
